The modern mixed-use development at the heart of the Arden Macaulay urban renewal initiative, the Arden Gardens, is the precinct’s first notable mixed-use development undertaken by CBD Development Group.
Strategic planning saw this 56-hectare stretch of land into a global commercial and residential precinct with its own Metro Tunnel station.
With a sloping site, variable ground and shallow groundwater conditions, Arden Gardens needed strong geotechnical and environmental advice to meet its quality objectives.
Extensive excavation was needed, and the developer turned to Tonkin + Taylor for a range of specialist services and environmental expertise.
Given the overriding focus on quality, initial investigations were supported by additional hydrogeological and geotechnical investigations. These supplementary investigations were critical for delivering an enhanced solution. It provided highly accurate data, vastly improved understanding of the risks involved and a clear picture of the available options. Most importantly, it ensured that the client could make sound decisions.
The complete suite of investigations delivered the most effective solution for pile design and groundwater management while ensuring that the design could easily and cost-effectively be integrated into the different construction stages.
