Our geotechnical team has been nominated in the Innovative Design category for their geotechnical design work on the Mordialloc Freeway project, a design & construct project delivered by McConnell Dowell Decmil Joint Venture (MCDDJV).
The Innovative Design award recognises firms who have demonstrated outstanding innovation in any aspect of the design process.
T+T was engaged as the lead geotechnical designer, providing geotechnical, landfill, environmental and contamination management consultancy services to MCDDJV from the tender design phase, a detailed design phase, through to the construction support phase.
T+T Senior Principal / Technical Director / Project Design Manager/ Project Director, Dr Daiquan Yang says:
“The T+T team was proud to be involved on this highly successful project. The complexities and challenges of this project demanded that T+T continually sought to challenge convention in developing many innovative design and practical solutions.
Our innovations also enabled a significantly high proportion of recycled materials to be used during construction, which created sustainable, positive impacts for our community. The cumulative & multiple cost-effective, innovative, yet low risk constructable geotechnical solutions provided by the T+T team on this project were made possible through a collaborative approach by all involved, particularly with support from our client, MCDDJV; and from the project owner, MRPV. The innovations displayed throughout this project set a great new benchmark of the value that can be provided to future road projects, and to similar relevant infrastructure projects.”
Dr Tim Fisher, Managing Director of Tonkin + Taylor Group, said: “This nomination is a great credit to our design team. To be shortlisted in the Innovative Design category reflects the outstanding and ground-breaking work that T+T is undertaking on major infrastructure projects across Australia. I wish our team the very best of luck.”
T+T also has a finalist in the Future Leader category, with Helena Woolums our Environmental Discipline Manager on the shortlist – you can find out more about Helena’s nomination here.
Nicole Neal, Chief Executive Australia of Tonkin + Taylor said: “I am delighted we have been shortlisted for two awards. Our finalists all embody T+T’s value of Excellence Everyday.
