Decmil Pty Ltd commissioned Tonkin + Taylor to undertake a geotechnical investigation in collaboration with Chadwick Geotechnics, a subsidiary of T+T Group, specialising in testing. Scope of work included:
- Conducting ground investigation activities such as drilling boreholes at each turbine location
- Installing temporary piezometers
- Excavating test pits both at the turbine sites and along the internal access roads and external pavements alignments
Additionally, we provided geophysical survey services and pavement design expertise as part of the project’s scope.
The project highlights include the installation of 52 wind turbines, the construction of 38.2 kilometres of access roads, and the upgrading of the public road network. In response to the technical requirements, our team conducted geotechnical and hydrogeological assessments, provided geotechnical laboratory services, contributed to the design of external pavements, conducted a geophysical survey, and developed pavement designs for roads and hardstands. We also offered advice on subgrade preparation and treatment to ensure optimal performance.
Tonkin + Taylor’s involvement in this project demonstrated our geotechnical investigations, laboratory services, and pavement design expertise. Our comprehensive approach contributed to the successful execution of the project and the delivery of reliable and efficient infrastructure for wind turbine development.
